Google’s Daydream VR platform reportedly launching soon

Back at the I/O developers conference, Google officially announced its new virtual reality (VR) platform, Daydream, which will see a huge focus on the technology moving forward. Since then, we've learned that Google plans on launching its own Daydream-ready VR headset, which will put it in direct competition to other companies looking to launch their own headsets in the future. And we've learned that current Android handsets probably won't be Daydream-ready whenever it launches.

Thanks to Bloomberg, we may have an idea when Daydream will launch. The publication has been told by unnamed sources that Daydream will launch "in the coming weeks" and that Google is working with a variety of partners, like Hulu and YouTube star Justine Ezarik, to create Daydream-specific projects to promote the platform. Google is also allegedly teaming up with sports leagues and producers of video games to bring even more content to the platform.

The report adds that Google is investing quite a bit in these projects, reportedly dropping hundreds of thousands of dollars for some of them.
