OnePlus says next smartphone ‘should’ launch in Q2 or Q3 of 2015

The OnePlus One has seen quite a bit of ups and downs ever since its official launch earlier in 2014, with advertising that hasn't really hit the mark and an invite system that has left many wanting the phone but unable to get their hands on it. Now it looks like the company is indeed keeping its sights set on the future.

During a reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) session, a pair of OnePlus staffers confirmed that the next smartphone from the company "should" land within the second or third quarter of 2015. Of course, considering it's so far in advance and the method of the unveil, no specific dates could be provided, so for now anyone who is looking forward to the next flagship handset from OnePlus will have to pencil in a pretty big circle next year.

That isn't all that was revealed, though, as the staffers were more than willing to admit that while they couldn't give any firm details, the company is indeed considering building a smaller handset, knowing that many people thought the original One was too large:

"We've seen a lot of people asking for a smaller device, and want to let everyone know that we hear you. We're thinking about it."

So, for anyone who has been hoping that a smaller version might exist at some point, it looks like OnePlus is at least considering it. Though, with the pre-order system scheduled to launch in late October for the original One, it will probably come down to sales that pile on later this year.

Were you able to get your hands on a OnePlus One, or are you still waiting?
