A while ago we told you that this year at least one of the Pixel 2 models might be manufactured by LG. Well, as recent information seems to be point out, this won't be the case after all. Earlier rumours have indicated that Google axed the Pixel XL 2 in favor of a larger phablet with an 18:9 screen ratio that would get build by LG. Well some references to the Pixel and Pixel XL (yes, apparently it's still alive!) successors were spotted inside the HTC U11's system files. Last year's models were codenamed S1 and M1, and the system files refer to a S2 and M2 – quite obviously the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. Surely, this could be an old reference placed there before Google scraped off the Pixel XL 2. Or maybe not. A report coming making an appearance last month, revealed that HTC signed a deal with Google for two years. What the information failed to disclose is whether the deal was made for one phone or two phones. After all, like in the case of the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, Google could very well launch a Pixel 2 build by HTC and a Pixel X(X)L 2 build by LG. Or both could be build by HTC, like last year's Pixel and Pixel XL. More information about the next-gen Pixels is bound to pop up in the upcoming weeks and we'll let you know as soon as we know more.
