Mark the Date: Google to Launch the Pixel 2 on October 5

An interested bit of information popped up hours after Samsung took the wraps off its glorious new phablet, the Galaxy Note 8.

And it's about another widely anticipated device – the Google Pixel 2. Well-known leakster Evan Blass revealed the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will be introduced on October 5 and will arrive with a Snapdragon 836 processor in tow.

Interestingly, Google unveiled the original Pixel on October 4, 2016, so the new Pixel will go live exactly a year and a day after.

It's not the first time we've heard the Pixel 2 will take advantage of a Snapdragon 836 processor. In 2016, Qualcomm unveiled two processors destined for premium devices: first the Snapdragon 820 and then the Snapdragon 821.

This year, Qualcomm is following a similar routine, as the Snapdragon 836 is an improved version of the high-end Snapdragon 835 which powers flagships like the OnePlus 5, Xiaomi Mi 6 and now the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

We expect other good things from Google this year. At least one of the new Pixels (the Pixel 2 XL to be more precise) is poised to take advantage of an edge-to-edge display. Following this year's pronounced industry trend, Google has partnered up with LG for a modern-looking Pixel 2 XL. The Korean tech giant has experience in this department, as it designed the stunning LG G6.
