Cybersecurity researchers from Check Poin t have unearthed a vulnerability in WhatsApp that could allow attackers to trick users by intercepting messages and editing the content. This opens up the possibility of scamming people and spreading misinformation.
According to Check Point, there are three methods that can be employed to fool WhatsApp users, outlined below: - Changing a reply from someone to put words into their mouth that they did not say.
- Quoting a message in a reply to a group conversation to make it appear as if it came from a person who is not even part of the group.
