The Alcatel Idol 5 made its international debut recently, and now prepaid wireless carrier Cricket Wireless is gearing up to launch the handset in the US. Cricket announced today that it will begin selling the Alcatel Idol 5 on October 27 for $199. For that price, owners will get an Android 7.0 Nougat smartphone which features a 5.2-inch 1080p HD display. There's an octa-core Helio P20 processor under the hood, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of built-in storage, and the Idol 5 has a microSD card slot for expandable storage as well. Around back, there's a 12-megapixel camera which features phase detection autofocus, and around front there's an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The Idol 5 also has dual front-facing speakers, an FM radio, a USB Type-C port, and the battery measures in at 2850mAh. There's also a Now key on the side of the Idol 5 which can be used to launch any app the owner wants, granting quick access to their favorite app. Also launching on October 27 is the Alcatel UNI360 VR goggles, which are optimized for use with the Idol 5 but will also work with other smartphones that have displays up to six inches.
