Samsung’s Foldable Smartphone, the Galaxy X Is Nearing Launch

Rumours about Samsung's foldable smartphone experiment have been making rounds for years now. At some point, we were told the device – dubbed the Galaxy X – will be making a debut into the wild ahead of the Galaxy Note 8. Well, that didn't end up happening, but that doesn't mean Samsung has abandoned its plans of launching a foldable smartphone.

Actually, if a recent certification is anything to go by, we're actually pretty close from seeing the Galaxy X make a grand debut. According to LetsGoDigital, the National Radio Research Agency of the Korean Communications Commission (South Korea's FCC) has just approved the Samsung device. The phone showed up as model number SM-G888N0 ("N0" indicates the phone is meant for the South Korean market) and classed as "equipment of radio equipment for LTE mobile communications" which could mean a number of things.

However, the model number is the same which appeared on the Wi-Fi Alliance and was labeled "smartphone". So in all indication, the SM-G888N0 is indeed the Korean version of Samsung's long-awaited foldable smartphone.

The certification didn't reveal anything else about the device in question, but having received the green light from the KCC, we can assume the phone is bound to launch soon. How soon? In early 2018 maybe.
