Images of rumored BlackBerry ‘KEY2′ surface

It is about that time that we start hearing rumors about an upcoming successor to the BlackBerry KEYone and, thanks to a recent leak, we're right on track.

Back in January, TCL revealed that it was working on two new BlackBerry handsets for 2018, and this may be one of them. We have several images of the rumored follow-up to the KEYone, with this device codenamed "Athena". As far as what the new handset might be called, we could see a "KEY2″ on the market soon enough.

There is certainly no denying this handset looks a lot like the original KEYone. It has that tall display above a full, physical keyboard. Interestingly enough, a couple of changes have been scoped out compared to the original, including the fact that the physical keys appear to be flatter this time around. The keyboard frets found on the original model are gone in this new handset, too.

Meanwhile, thanks to the Chinese regulatory body TENAA, we have even more images to mull over. We can see the BlackBerry logo on the back, and there appears to be a dual camera setup on the back of the smartphone. That would put the KEY2 right in line with plenty of other flagships.

Unfortunately, there isn't any word on specifications for the KEY2 just yet. Word on the street is that it will have a USB-C port and that TCL is including a 3.5mm headphone jack for good measure.

Did you pick up the original BlackBerry KEYone? Are you looking forward to the KEY2?
