Xiaomi announces the Mi 6X with 5.99-inch display

It has been just over a year since Xiaomi officially announced the Mi 6, and now the company is back with that phone's successor.

Today Xiaomi unveiled the Mi 6X, which will go on sale in China before the end of the month starting at 1599 yuan, or around $253 USD. Xiaomi says the newest handset in its lineup continues its trend of sticking with noteworthy specifications but offering the phone at "half the price" versus the competition.

As for the specs you get for that price tag, the Mi 6X boasts a 5.99-inch display without a notch, and with a display resolution of 2160×1080. The screen has an aspect ratio of 18:9. Under the hood you'll find an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, and either 64GB or 128GB of built-in storage, depending on the model. The battery measures in at 3010mAh, and it supports fast charging.

Around back, there is a dual camera design, with one 20MP shooter with an f/1.75 sensor and the other a 12MP camera with an f/1.75 aperture. There is an AI scene detection for flash with the rear cameras, as well as an included portrait mode. Around front the Mi 6X offers a 20-megapixel front-facing camera.

Finally, the Mi 6X also has a USB-C port on the bottom, a fingerprint reader on the back, dual SIM card support, and Bluetooth 5.0 on board. Customers in China will be able to choose either pink, blue, black, gold, or red for their color options.
