Samsung has announced its first foray into Android Go, which is a stripped down and lightened version of Android made to run on low end hardware. The device is called the Galaxy J2 Core and it sports some very low end specs. It features a 5.0-inch 540×960 TFT display, an Exynos 7570 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, an 8MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera, and a 2,600 mAh battery. It'll be running Android 8.0 Oreo but it won't be stock; despite being Android Go, Samsung has still modified the UI to match its other phones. Android Go provides a lower install size than regular Android, features like Ultra Data Savings, and optimizations for longer battery life. Samsung claims that the little 2,600 mAh battery will last you all day. The Galaxy J2 Core will launch in India and Malaysia on August 24 for an unknown price. It's likely to cost under $100 though! It's not a particularly exciting device but Samsung's lineup can definitely benefit from a phone with Android Go. Android Match
