LG debuts V30S ThinQ with AI

LG struggles with consistency. The company has had some hit devices like the G3 and G4 (apart from the bootlooping issues), as well as the V line of smartphones. But the company's past two flagship devices, the G5 and the G6 have met lukewarm customer interest. The company's recent V30 smartphone launched to critical acclaim and positive customer response, but its high price is a sticking point for some potential customers.LG_V30S_ThinQ_Platinum_Gray

LG is sticking with its successful device, however, and is dabbling in a new strategy of releasing multiple variants of its flagship smartphones. The latest addition to the V30 line is the V30S ThinQ, which places an emphasis on AI.

The V30S ThinQ boasts an AI CAM that is designed to recognize objects, such as pets, foods, or cars, and adjust the camera settings accordingly. To indicate the object it's detecting, the V30S ThinQ displays text with the recognized object, letting you know if it's correctly identifying the subject. To power the system, LG has partnered with Eyem to create a customized version of the company's AI software.

LG has also added QLens, which can recognize an object to provide pricing and purchase options. And LG smart appliances can be controlled using new Google Assistant voice commands on the V30S ThinQ. To round things out, LG has made two key hardware upgrades, including a bump to 6GB of RAM, up from 4GB, and storage options of 128GB and 256GB, up from 64GB and 128GB. Otherwise, the hardware stays the same, save for a new color option of Platinum Gray.

Pricing and availability info has yet to be confirmed, but LG will likely launch the V30S ThinQ soon, so as not to have it compete with the upcoming successor to the G6.
