T-Mobile will begin building its 5G network in 30 cities this year

Back in May of last year, T-Mobile was already talking about its plans to implement its 5G network across the United States. It's a wide-ranging plan that involves multiple steps, but one the wireless carrier believes will be implemented for its customers by 2019.

Today, during Mobile World Congress — and following hot on the heels of Sprint's own 5G-related announcement — the Un-carrier officially announced that it will begin building out its 5G network this year, beginning with 30 U.S. cities. Customers in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Las Vegas will be able to use the 5G network first when the first 5G-capable smartphones launch in early 2019.

T-Mobile reiterates that its 5G network will be taking advantage of the 600 MHz spectrum and that it will also begin building out the 5G network using millimeter wave spectrum in 2018.

The Un-carrier's goal is to have the first nationwide 5G network in place ahead of the other three major wireless carriers aiming to launch their own 5G networks in 2019.

Are you getting excited for 5G networks?
