The first Android Oreo (Go edition) devices will be introduced next week

Back in December of last year, Google officially took the wraps off what it called Android Oreo (Go edition), which is designed for devices with a minimal amount of RAM and built-in storage.

At the time, we didn't get any mention of what new devices would be coming with this Go edition initiative, but it looks like Google is almost ready to start talking details. Today the company announced that it will be unveiling the first Android Oreo (Go edition) smartphones next week. The handsets will go on sale at some point "soon after" the big unveiling.

There haven't been any major announcements regarding partnerships with smartphone manufacturers, so it'll be a bit of a surprise to see which phones will be announced next week. The question is, will we see rehashes of older devices or will these be new handsets built specifically for the Android Oreo Go edition?

Android Oreo (Go edition) is designed for low-end handsets, like the ones that boast somewhere 1GB of RAM or less. If you only prefer mid-range or high-end flagship devices, then Android Oreo (Go edition) won't be your cup of tea.

Are you excited about Android Oreo (Go edition)?
