| ZTE may be in talks with Google over its future with Android, but the company's Chinese sub-brand, Nubia, has introduced a new smartphone that's all about gaming. The Nubia Red Magic is created with all of the classic design elements you'd expect from a gaming computer. Sharp angles define the device and the rear features vibrant red vents and an LED light strip that glows in multiple colors. Though its design may flaunt its gaming aspirations, the specs are slightly below par compared with other gaming smartphones. The Red Magic features a 6-inch 2160×1080 display, Snapdragon 835 processor, Adreno 540 GPU, 6GB/8GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage, 24-megapixel rear camera with f/1.7 aperture, 8-megapixel front camera, and a whopping 3800mAh battery. The device will run Nubia's Red Magic OS, which is based on Android 8.1. Nubia is including its GameBoost software which claims to increase performance. The Red Magic faces tough competition in the Razer Phone and Xiaomi's Black Shark smartphone, both of which are also focused on gaming. With the Red Magic featuring a year-old processor and no 120Hz display, it may struggle to find a competitive advantage. Nubia will be launching Red Magic pre-orders in China on April 25. Pricing will be set at 2,499 yuan ($398 USD) for the base model and 2,999 yuan ($477 USD) for the upgraded model. The company is also planning an Indiegogo campaign on April 26, which will offer the upgraded model for a discounted price of $399.
