Fate of ZTE Hawkeye uncertain, might be cancelled altogether

The response to ZTE's Project CSX, now known as Hawkeye, has not been all that positive. The project crowdsourced ideas and used the most popular to make a device that has an adhesive back and eye tracking, allowing users to stick their phone somewhere and use it hands free.

However, the low-end specs upset a lot of people. ZTE was aiming to make a phone that would sell in all markets, but users wanted a flagship-tier device. The company tried to fix the situation by asking people what they would change, but it doesn't seem to be working. The Kickstarter campaign for the device is sitting at $36,000 of its $500,000 goal.

The project may very well be cancelled in its current form, as ZTE now believes Kickstarter wasn't the right place to try to sell the device. However, the two staples of the Hawkeye will still be used in a device that will come to the market.

If people don't express more interest in the Hawkeye, it may be cancelled. And honestly, that might not be a bad thing. The project isn't exactly looking so strong right now. Let us know what you think in the comments!
