Flexible displays have been shown off in consumer products before, but to a very limited extent. Both Samsung and LG have dabbled in devices that featured curved glass with flexible displays inside, but we haven't gotten any flexible devices so far. Japan Display has announced its own flexible display. The Full Active Flex display is a 5.5-inch panel with a full HD resolution. It features a plastic substrate on both sides with a liquid crystal layer inside, which makes it both flexible and resistant to cracking. The display can be run at a regular 60hz and scaled down to 15hz for power savings. It'll start production in 2018 and hopefully we'll see some unique devices launch that use a flexible display in creative ways. Android Match
