AT&T Sponsored Data extends to prepaid customers

AT&T rolled out its "Sponsored Data" program not too long ago, and at first it was only available for its postpaid customers. Business customers were eventually brought into the mix, too, and now prepaid customers are seeing inclusion as well.

As first noted by The Verge today, AT&T has extended its Sponsored Data program to include prepaid customers. The big blue wireless carrier sent out text notifications to its prepaid customer base letting them know of the change, and the company has since published a support page detailing how to opt in or out of the program.

Sponsored Data means that some services are available to stream for customers without impacting their data allowances (or count towards a general high-speed data cap). At the time of publication, only three platforms seem to support AT&T's Sponsored Data right now — DirecTV (including DirecTV Now), U-Verse, and FullScreen — all of which are video services that are owned by AT&T.

If you are an AT&T prepaid customer, do you think you'll opt-in for Sponsored Data?
