TCL Teases BlackBerry Mercury Smartphone in Short Video

CES 2017 is scheduled to start in a few hours and during the event hosted in Las Vegas we expect to see some of the world's top Android OEMs reveal new, exciting products.

As we told you before, a new BlackBerry handset is expected to see the light of day at CES 2017. It's the last handset to be completely designed by BlackBerry, so it's something we should keep an eye out for.

BlackBerry will no longer be making smartphones from now on, leaving Chinese company TCL in charge to produce future BlackBerry branded devices.

The first one to be launched in 2017 will be the BlackBerry Mercury (or DTEK70) which according to TCL's recent tweet is going to be "imPRESSively designed – distinctly different". The company's CEO also added a four second teaser in order to give us a glimpse of the future BlackBerry model.

According to the rumour mill the phone should come equipped with a 4.5-inch touchscreen display plus a QWERTY keyboard. The device should be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor in combination with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. A 3,400 mAh juice pack will keep the device running and Android 7.0 Nougat will be the operating system onboard.

Don't forget to tune in on January 4 at 11:00 am and watch TCL unveil the BlackBerry Mercury live!
