Moto Z3 Play leaks out with a 5G Moto Mod

Motorola, currently still running under the Lenovo banner, will launch a new mid-range smartphone this year, and it looks like the company is also planning a bit ahead with a new Moto Mod option as well.

XDA-Developers has a brief report on a brand new Moto smartphone coming down the pipe that will be known as the Moto Z3 Play. This will likely be one of Motorola's more noteworthy handsets this year, even if it isn't going to be the high-end model some might desire. According to the report, the upcoming handset will boast a 6-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 18:9 aspect ratio, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, 4GB of RAM, and models with either 32GB of 64GB of built-in storage.

The handset will also reportedly feature a microSD card slot for expandable storage, a pair of cameras on the back, and a 3000mAh battery. It will be running Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

A respectable mid-range handset, the Moto Z3 Play's most appealing feature might actually be a Moto Mod accessory. According to the report, Motorola will be launching a 5G Moto Mod which adds a noticeable antenna to the top of the accessory.

A 5G Moto Mod is forward-facing, to be sure, but it's not a network technology that's readily available right now. But, a Moto Mod like this might be good for traveling in the near future.
