Huawei is knocking it out of the game with smartphone cameras. The Huawei Mate 10 Pro broke into the top 5 rated smartphones on DxOMark, which is a big achievement on its own, but now they top the charts. The latest flagships to be announced are the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro. The former has a dual camera Leica system while the latter has a unique tri-camera setup with a 40MP main sensor (and a large one at that) paired with a 20MP monochrome sensor and an 8MP 3x telephoto lens. The two have now topped DxOMark's charts at second and first place, respectively. The P20 scored a 102 while the P20 Pro scored an impressive 109, beating out top dogs like the iPhone X, Google Pixel 2, and Samsung Galaxy S9. The P20 Pro scored a 114 on image quality. It is exemplary in that it has class leading dynamic range, a better telephoto lens, and does great in low light. Video scored 98 thanks to class leading stabilization and 960 FPS capability. Now that the Huawei duo have taken the throne and have shown that Huawei is serious about image quality, we'll have to see how the competition steps up their game!
