Samsung is working hard to roll out Android 8.0 Oreo to its devices and the company has already begun to send out the update to some of its carrier-specific devices. But sending out updates to carrier devices first can cause a bit of a hubbub between manufacturers and their customers with unlocked devices. Samsung is here to shed some light on the Oreo update for its major unlocked devices, and the good news is that the unlocked Galaxy S8, S8+, and Note 8 should all begin receiving their Oreo updates within 2-3 weeks. Samsung explains that carrier-specific devices often take less time to update because they only need to be tested for compatibility and functionality on one network. Unlocked devices are designed to work across multiple networks, and thus require a more rigorous testing process that ensures functionality with all potential networks. Samsung can't guarantee an exact date for the rollout of Oreo to these three unlocked devices, but rest assured, you don't have long to wait! Android Match
