Samsung is taking unprecedented measures in the US, where it plans to roll out a software update meant to prevent remaining Galaxy Note7 units from charging.
The Korean tech giant is working hand in hand with AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile to impose this act, but not Verizon. Well in other territories, Samsung will be a bit gentler.
Starting December 15, the phone maker will issue an update for Galaxy Note7s in the UK that will limit battery charging to 30%. We don't know if the measure will be imposed on other European states as well, but it seems likely.
At first Samsung nicely asked Galaxy Note7 owners to return the phablet. Fast forward a few months later and the company has unleashed an aggressive campaign to persuade those still clinging to the Note7 to bring their phone in and receive a replacement.
In Canada, Samsung is expected to roll out an update which will strip the phablet of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities, rendering it basically useless.
The Korean tech giant has been taking steps to blacklist the phablet from New Zealand's and Australia's networks, as well.
If you too are still holding on to the potentially dangerous device, we urge you to take it back to the place you purchased it from and take advantage of Samsung's refunds or exchange programs.
