On the same weekend that the Galaxy S9 is launching, Samsung's 2017 flagship is getting an update to Android 8.0 Oreo. The T-Mobile versions of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are now being updated to Android 8.0 with Samsung Experience 9.0. The update is now going out over the air to both devices, so owners should keep an eye out for that OTA or check for the update manually by going into Settings > Software update > Download updates manually. The updates for both phones are around 1.5GB in size. Galaxy S8 owners will be bumped up to software version G950USQU2CRB9, while you Galaxy S8+ users will be moved to software version G955USQU2CRB9. After updating, T-Mobile S8 and S8+ owners can expect the usual Oreo goodies like picture-in-picture, autofill, and notification dots. Samsung has thrown in some of its own updates as well, like more clock styles for the lock screen and Always On Display and improvements for the Edge Screen feature. The security level of the update is February 1, 2018. It may have taken a bit longer than Galaxy S8 and S8+ owners would've liked, but it's good to see Oreo rolling out to Samsung's 2017 flagship Galaxy S phones. The update brings lots of new features and improvements so once your Galaxy S8 or S8+ gets its Oreo update, be sure to let us know what you think of 'em! Android Match
