One week after the Samsung Galaxy S9 made its official debut, details on another Android flagship smartphone have surfaced. Specs for the HTC U12, codenamed HTC Imagine, have leaked out. According to well-known HTC leaker LlabTooFeR, the device will boast features like a Snapdragon 845 processor and a dual rear camera setup with 12MP and 16MP sensors. Other notable features that are said to be coming with the HTC U12 include up to 6GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, a 3,420mAh battery, and HTC Face Unlock. HTC has reportedly cooked up version 2.0 of its Edge Sense technology that lets you perform actions by squeezing the sides of your phone, and it'll be coming with the U12 as well. It's also expected that the HTC U12 will come preloaded with Android 8.0 Oreo and HTC's Sense 10 user interface. LlabTooFeR also says that a HTC U12 release may happen "somewhere in April". When it comes to hardware design, some photos recently came out that reportedly showed the HTC U12 at an event in Taiwan, but it was hard to make out much of the phone's look because it had tape on the front and the back was never shown. It'll be interesting to see the full reveal of the U12 and see what HTC has to offer for its major 2018 release, especially as we see more and more devices with reduced bezel designs come to market. The good news is that with a rumored April release, we may not have to wait long to officially meet the U12. Sources: @LlabTooFeR (1), (2) Android Match
