Google Assistant expanding to all Android Marshmallow and Nougat phones

To date, Google Pixel owners are the only ones that've gotten to use Google Assistant on their smartphone. That's changing soon.

Google today announced that it's bringing Google Assistant to more devices. The feature will automatically begin rolling out to Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Android 7.0 Nougat smartphones with Google Play Services this week.

Google Assistant will hit English users in the US first, followed by English users in Australia, Canada, and the UK as well as German speakers in Germany. Support for more languages will be added over the coming year.

It's great to see that Google is not only expanding the availability of Assistant, but that it's bringing it to phones on both Nougat and Marshmallow. That'll greatly expand the availability of Google Assistant, giving lots of new people the chance to try the digital helper's services, which include weather forecasts, translations, business info, IoT controls, and more.

If you've got a Marshmallow or Nougat phone in the US, Australia, Canada, the UK, or Germany, keep an eye out for Google Assistant in the coming weeks.
