U.S. Cellular is one of the largest regional wireless carriers in the United States, and it has decided to follow the largest national carriers as it changes up its rate plans. U.S. Cellular has confirmed that it will be bridging together a variety of plan features from other carriers. First, the new Total Plans aim to reduce the confusion regarding a subscriber's bill. The new plans include "No Hidden Fees," which means there aren't any data overage fees, no monthly connection charges, and no action fees. Taxes and other regulatory charges will still be applied, though. There are three Total Plans to choose from. The first offers 2GB of high-speed data per month per line. It costs $40 per month for one line, $35 per month per line for two lines, $25 per month per line for three lines, and $20 per month per line for four lines or more. The second plan bumps up the monthly allotment to 6GB per month per line. That's priced as $50 per month for one line, or $45 per month per line for two lines. Three lines costs $35 each per month, while four lines or more costs $30 per line per month. Finally, the third plan includes unlimited data. It costs $60 per month for a single line or $55 per month per line for two lines. Three lines are priced at $45 per month per line, and four lines or more will run $40 per line per month. Each of these prices includes a $10 monthly discount with Auto Pay and Paperless Billing applied. If you turn these two features off, each price will go up by $10 per month. There are caveats to keep in mind. If a user on the unlimited plan goes over 22GB in a month, they'll be reduced to 2G network speeds. Customers that sign up for the 2GB or 6GB plan will have their network speeds reduced to 2G if they go over that monthly allowance. Unlimited customers can stream an unlimited about of standard definition video. Users on 2GB or 6GB plans can stream high-deffiniton video content. Customers that sign up for the 6GB plan or the unlimited plan will also get unlimited talk and text to Mexico and Canada. Meanwhile, unlimited plan subscribers will get mobile hotspot access as well. Subscribers will also be able to add a connected device or tablet to their Total Plan, priced at $10 per month for 1GB of data, $25 per month for 4GB, or $40 per month for 10GB of data access. You get unlimited data, and you get unlimited data! This new trend is certainly a good one, with prices that are, at least for now, competitive for the most part with other carriers.
