Though we now know the Pixel line to be Google's high-end smartphones built by HTC, it started as a premium, in-house Chromebook. In fact, multiple Pixel products were built by Google, rather than a third-party like Nexus devices were. Unfortunately, Google will not be building another Pixel laptop. Google's senior vice president for hardware Rick Osterloh says that this is the end of the Chromebook Pixel line, at least for now, and that the current models are sold out and are no longer in production. The future of Chrome OS is still strong as other manufacturers continue building the laptops. Google isn't giving up on the OS. And the Pixel name isn't going anywhere with the success of the recently released smartphones. Unfortunately, the ultra-premium Chromebook line is gone. Android Match
