Google Play Instant will let you try a game without installing it
Google has been working on its instant apps program for quite a while, with the goal of allowing Android users to try out an app "instantly" without having to download and install the full app before giving it a go. That was meant for apps to start, and now that feature is extending to games.
At the start of the Game Developers Conference (GDC) today, Google has announced that it's rebranding the feature Google Play Instant and adding games to the mix.
Now Android users that see a game in the Play Store with a "TRY NOW" button can tap that and see a version of the game instantly load up on their device. While you try out the game in this mode, you will see a persistent "Install" button which will let you install the full app whenever you want.
Google has confirmed that it is working with established developers, publishers, and other companies, including Unity, Cocos, IDE, to help build out Google Play Instant to let Android users try out even more games.
