You can pre-order the HTC Vive Pro starting at $799

It has been a couple of years since the HTC Vive went up for pre-order (priced at $799, too), and now there is a new virtual reality headset to throw your money at.

HTC showcased the Vive Pro earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show, and now the VR headset is available to pre-order for $799. For that price you get a very, very barebones package: you'll only receive the Vive Pro headset. That means you won't get any controllers, Vive wireless adapters, or Vive base stations.

It is worth noting, though, that the Vive Pro supports SteamVR Tracking 1.0 and 2.0. That means that if you have the original Vive headset's controllers and base station, then those accessories will work with the Vive Pro.

As far as what the Vive Pro offers at the $799 price, you get a pair of dual AMOLED displays within the headset, each of which offer a resolution of 1440×1600. The headset offers a 110-degree field of view, a 90Hz refresh rate, and HTC says the "optimized face cushion" makes the Vive Pro exceedingly comfortable to wear, even over long periods of time.

HTC says shipments for initial orders of the Vive Pro will start going out on April 5. If you order the Vive Pro before June 30, though, the company will also throw in a six-month subscription to Viveport, which offers five free Vive apps on a monthly rotation.

What do you think? Are you going to pick up a Vive Pro?
