Samsung's mobile displays have always been considered some of the best, and its latest flagship is no different. But it is special. DisplayMate has rated the Galaxy S9's display and given it the first ever A+ grade. The display on the Galaxy S9 may be the same size as its predecessor, but Samsung has made a ton of improvements. DisplayMate says that color accuracy is "visually indistinguishable from perfect" and the factory calibration of the display has improved. Brightness has improved to 1,130 nits, a 20% boost over last year's model. Then there are features like the super dimming mode, dual ambient light sensors front and back, HDR support, and the typical selectable modes. While this display is the best DisplayMate has ever tested in a smartphone or tablet on paper, that doesn't mean that it will be the best for everyone. Displays are pretty subjective, as is the software display tuning. Look what happened with the Pixel 2 XL. Nonetheless, the display on the Samsung Galaxy S9 seems to be excellent and is yet another reason to buy one. Plus you can ignore all that color accuracy and just turn on vivid mode.
