Chinese company ZTE is prepping something quite interesting. The semi-obscure Chinese device maker has big plans for MWC 2017 in Barcelona where it set to unveil the world's first gigabit phone. The device dubbed ZTE Gigabit Phone, it will be capable of supporting download speeds of at 1Gbps. On top of that, the phone will also be able to take 360-degree VR, 4K video and instantly upload them in cloud storage. We're not told anything else about the device, but we have to assume the Gigabit Phone will feature a Snapdragon 835 chipset, given the fact that the SoC takes advantage of a gigabit LTE-capable X16 modem. The handset is probably going to be launched on mature markets such as the US, UK and Australia. ZTE seems to be a fan of experimentation. Earlier this year, the company showcased the Hawkeye smartphone – an atypical gadget which features an adhesive back and eye tracking technology. The device was supposed to go on sale soon, but ZTE disappointed the community when it announced the Hawkeye will feature only middle range specs. Well the Gigabit Phone, ZTE will be able to make it up to consumers. At MWC 2017, ZTE is probably going to showcase only a prototype, as the real life product will arrive at a later date.
