AT&T plans to deploy 5G service in select cities this year, and now Verizon has announced that it's getting in on the future-proofing fun, too. Verizon says that it will begin testing its 5G network by mid-2017, and that the "pre-commercial" service will be in 11 different markets in the United States. Select customers in the following metropolitan areas will trial Verizon's 5G service: Ann Arbor, Michigan; Atlanta, Georgia; Bernardsville, New Jersey; Brockton, Massachusetts; Dallas, Texas; Denver, Colorado; Houston, Texas; Miami, Florida; Sacramento, California; Seattle, Washington; and Washington, D.C. Verizon is planning that its 5G tests will include "several hundred cell sites that cover several thousand customer locations," and the tests will be handled as part of its 5G Technology Forum (5GTF). That includes partnerships with Qualcomm, Samsung, Ericsson, and Intel. Are you looking forward to 5G speeds? Android Match
